World Cup 2010 Group Guide

Following the World Cup 2010 Qualification Stages the 32 countries that will contest World Cup 2010 Finals in South Africa were decided! The World Cup Final Draw was made on December 4th 2009 and the following teams have been divided into 8 groups of 4 teams with the World Cup Group Stages which started on June 11th 2010!

Group A is decided - The hosts South Africa and their Vuvuzela's are out of the tournment despite beating France 2-1 in their final game. France are also out and leave World Cup 2010 in disgrace! Uruguay topped Group A after they beat Mexico 1-0 in their final game, the Mexican's also qualify for the last 16 in the runners-up spot.

Group B is decided - Argentina top the group and look on course to progress deep into the tournament once again. They are joined by South Korea who finish runners-up after their 2-2 draw with Nigeria in the final group game. World Cup 2010 is now over for Greece and Nigeria!

Group C is decided - USA top the group thanks to a 1-0 win against Algeria in their final game. They are joined by England who finish runners-up after their 1-0 win over Slovenia...can they progress further? World Cup 2010 is now over for Slovenia and Algeria!

Group D is decided - Germany beat Ghana 1-0 in their final game to top Group D but Ghana ensured there will be African representation in the knockout stages by finishing runners-up! In the other game Australia beat Serbia 2-1 but their World Cup adventures are now over!

Group E is decided - The Netherlands cruised through to the last 16 with a maximum 9 points to top the group. They are joined by Japan who dispatched Denmark 3-1 in their final group game to take the runners-up spot. World Cup 2010 is now over for the Danes and Cameroon.

Group F is decided - The BIG news is that the holders Italy are OUT of the World Cup following a 3-2 defeat to Slovakia! New Zealand also go out despite battling to a brave 0-0 against Paraguay...it's Paraguay who top Group F with Slovakia through as runners-up!

Group G is decided - Brazil and Portugal are safely through to the last 16 after a 0-0 bore draw in their final group game! The Samba stars top the group with Portugal taking the runners up spot! The Ivory Coast depart World Cup 2010 despite a 3-0 win over North Korea in the final game who themselves finish bottom of the group and leave South Africa with zero point and a minus 11 goal difference!

Group H is decided - In the final group games in Group H Spain beat Chile 2-1 in a fiery match to qualify top of the group. Chile also qualified in the runners-up spot. We say goodbye to both Switzerland and Honduras who bowed out after a 0-0 draw in their final match in Bloemfontein!

World Cup 2010 Venues

In 2005, the organizers released a provisional list of thirteen venues to be used for the World Cup: Bloemfontein, Cape Town, Durban, Johannesburg (two venues), Kimberley, Nelspruit, Orkney, Polokwane, Port Elizabeth, Pretoria (two venues), and Rustenburg. This was narrowed down to ten venues which were officially announced by FIFA on 17 March 2006.
